Pagani Huayra Review & Ratings

Built by Italian automaker Pagani Automobili S.P.A., the Pagani Huayra is a sleek sports car that first went into production in 2012. The private automobile company was founded by Horacio Pagani in 1988 who thought of starting his own company after working for Lamborghini for a while.

The name “Huayra” comes from the language of the Incan Empire, Quechua, and means “God of the winds”. The car officially debuted at the 2011 Geneva Auto Salon and in 2012 was named Hypercar of the Year 2012 by Top Gear magazine. It is the fastest car at Top Gear test track. The Huayra has been featured in many video games, including Real Racing 3, Grid 2, and Forza Motorsport 4.

The car is able to change its height from the ground by the use of flaps controlled by the driver. The flaps also prevent excess body roll when taking corners and giving better stability through curves. The flaps are set both at the front and in the rear of the car: the rear flaps also act as part of the braking system.

Pagani has been two custom variations of the Huayra, the 730 S and the La Monza Lisa, which has a one-of-a-kind version of the M158 engine, hand-built by Michael Kubler. The car itself, thanks to materials and design, weighs less than three thousand pounds, so it is built for speed.

The car comes with a price tag of approximately $1,600,000.00 US dollars.

Engine Options

The Huayra comes with a Mercedes-AMG bi-turbo M158 5980 cc V12 engine with an amazing 700 horsepower.

Transmission Options

The car is equipped with a seven-speed sequential manual transmission with a single disc clutch.

Size and Space Options

The Huayra is a two-seater with plenty of space and leg room for two passengers. Headroom is fine unless you’re very tall.

Control Panel and Display

This is a luxury car and even the instrumentation is luxurious, consisting of driver-friendly display, center console, and sleek stereo system.

Leather seats, driver-adjustable seat, and full-cabin air conditioning provide plenty of comfort in the Huayra.

This is an expensive car and only a few of this variant are produced each year so it has limited accessibility.

Security Systems

The car comes equipped with the anti-theft device of the owner’s choosing and keyless entry.

Safety Options

The car is equipped with state-of-the-art custom carbon ceramic brakes, traction control, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights.

Interior Options

Standard options include automatic climate control, USB and auxiliary audio input, navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, leather seats, and leather steering wheel.

Exterior Options

Exterior options offered by the car include gull-wing doors, twenty-inch wheels, front fog lamps, and automatic HID headlights.

Accessories that come pre-fitted in the car include floor mats and leather steering wheel cover.

The Huayra is a quality-built, high-performance vehicle made exclusively with exceptional materials.

The car is a high-performance sports car built for the road with sleek and luxurious styling.

For the cost of the sports car, there are other models out there that offer more in the way of features, although the engine packs quite a punch if speed is your top priority. The car only gets about ten miles to the gallon in city driving, so fuel efficiency is virtually non-existent.

Our Verdict

While the Pagani Huayra is an exceptional sports car and high-performance automobile, it is an expensive car that comes below average in terms of features, as compared to other cars in its class. It does, however have a powerful engine and gets great handling and the low center of gravity. The flaps at the front and rear provide excellent stability.
