Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Review & Ratings

Lamborghini is known for its high performance vehicles and the company is not disappointing with its latest offering the Sesto Elemento. In English Sesto Elemento means sixth element and this vehicle lives up to its name. The 6th element is carbon and the name refers to the fact that there is an extensive amount of carbon fiber used for the vehicle. It has 2 seats, a V10, and is a lightweight high performance vehicle. It made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2010 and the Lamborghini company has announced that it will be in limited production.

The main component of the exterior of the vehicle is carbon fiber reinforced plastics. The company has been able to develop a process that will take the material from a 3D design through a simulation series, validation, and then testing. This process ends with the vehicle finally be produced. The collaboration between Lamborghini and the Boeing Company is one of the most important for developing this vehicle. These two companies have developed carbon fiber reinforced plastic to a whole new level because of the advanced composite research center. Some of the more unique parts of the vehicle include the exhaust system that is made from Pyrosic, which is a glass ceramic composite which can withstand high amounts of heat and the wheels which are made out of carbon fiber entirely.

Almost every aspect of the exterior uses the carbon fiber material including the front frame, crash boxes, exterior panels and the monocoque passenger cell. The outside of the vehicle is not painted in the traditional manner. Each of the panels of the car shine with a matte finish and during the end of the development process there are fine crystals that are added to the mix so a red glow appears on the exterior. The surface of the vehicle is much stronger than that of normal paint jobs and it is also quite stunning.

The interior design for the Sesto Elemento is focused on function instead of form. The monocoque tub shapes the interior and provides a minimalist feeling that is pure Lamborghini. One of the most unique features of the interior of the Sesto Elemento is that there are no seats. Instead, the cushioning is fixed into the tub made of carbon fiber. This unique aspect of the interior will provide both the driver and the passenger with a true feel of the road beneath them. To adjust for the height and weight of the driver, the steering wheel is totally adjustable for both reach and height. In addition, the pedals can also be adjusted.

Once inside this vehicle you truly feel like you are in a race car. There is no wood grain, leather, or any of the other types of luxury materials. The carbon fiber is exposed throughout the interior and many of the major engine components are seen. The controls for the vehicle are simple and include a reverse gear button, a starter button, and a switch to use for the lights. Reducing the amount of weight inside the vehicle and on the outside has led to great savings when the vehicle is compared to some of the other Lamborghini models that are lightweight as well.

Price and Availability

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is going to be available in a limited number. There are only 20 units going to be produced and as of August of 2012, each of them was already sold. The price tag on the vehicle was $2.2 million.
