Unless you fancy going all out with a minibus, there isn’t much choice at this end of the market, but the ford Tourneo does provide a practical solution for super-sized families. Considering it’s based on a Transit van, it’s surprisingly comfortable, too. With eight full-size seats and a ninth available to add to the front row, this is a mammoth vehicle, although it’s not unwieldy thanks to parking sensors and enormous door mirrors. The Tourneo doesn’t come cheap, so it’s just as well that the essentials are taken care of; automatic wipers and headlights, air-conditioning, heated front seats and a Dab radio are all included. Its biggest selling point is space – and there’s a lot of it. even with all the seats up, there’s still 922 litres of boot space to play with. remove the seats and even the kitchen sink will rattle around in the vast 5520 litres of room.
