Style and comfort are the things we strive for in life. Some have had them since birth while most of us are still working towards that goal.
It goes without saying that sometimes we tend to cut a corner or two, sacrifice a couple of things and generally ignore the world around us in order to reach these two things.
Cars are no exception: the more stylish they are and the more elegant their appearance is, the more attracted to them we are to them. However, we may be put off immediately by their price tags.
Peugeot realized this and accepted it as fact. This is how the 508 came to be.
Despite being a family car, it sports the same elegance and comfort as a business car with a different price tag from one.
The 508 came into production in 2010, in both France and China, with the general idea for it being to grab hold of the family car market and dominate it by giving the customers exactly what they were looking for without the price tags that the competition usually enforced.
Sadly though, 4 years is too short of a lifetime for the car to have a proper history. However Peugeot is confident that the 508 will remain a prominent contender on the market for years to come.
The 508, as a family car, has to have a serious power plant under its hood and Peugeot provided that power plant and 5 more choices from which the customer can choose.
The engines are:
1.6 liter I4 petrol
1.6 liter I4 diesel
2.0 liter I4 petrol
2.0 liter I4 diesel
2.2 liter I4 diesel
2.3 liter I4 petrol
Safety and Security
As far as safety goes, the Peugeot 508 meets the standards of family cars worldwide as well as surpasses some of them especially in impact prevention.
The onboard computer is set up with a speed limiting chip to prevent drivers from reaching obnoxious speeds. The power steering is fine-tuned and the onboard computer helps it compensate for under steering and over steering.
If an impact does occur, the people inside are well protected by the frontal and side airbags as well as the strengthened seatbelts.
Space and Comfort
Being a family car is not an easy task and that is generally because family cars must provide the said family with a lot of space for a comfortable experience. There is a lot of luggage that has to fit inside the boot, there is a lot of leg and head room that must be provided and the Peugeot 508 does just that.
A grand total of 5 solid adults can fit in this car without becoming uncomfortable and the boot space is more than generous, providing enough space for the entire family to go on a camping trip without resorting to renting a small trailer for excess luggage.
Quality and value
Value-wise, the Peugeot 508 is a valid choice, and it will live up to the sum of money that you pay for it.
It does provide that extra bit of elegance that you are looking for without lightening your wallet too much.
Maintenance-wise, the costs can be a bit higher than other cars in the same bracket. However, the rate at which maintenance work is required is lower than other cars.
The Peugeot 508 is designed to be a family car, meaning that it is practical from all points of view, especially for use in an urban environment.
It brings comfort and storage space to the table, it keeps costs low and it can easily stand up to any task that comes its way.
