When a car is described as the most beautiful car ever by a key figure in the motor world, that statement carries a lot of weight. Enzo Ferrari described the Jaguar E-Type as the most beautiful car ever. Enzo’s words meant that the Jaguar E-Type had pushed style and elegance to the extreme. Car models come and go, but this model has refused to fade away due to its classic, elegant look – it’s second to none. Though the car traces its origin back to 1961, there is no denying its beauty. It’s a beauty that grabs hold of you and demands your attention. The Jaguar E-Type was rated first in ‘The Daily ‘Telegraph’ in the list of world’s “Most Beautiful Cars.” Because of its far-reaching recognition around the world, the Jaguar E-Type landed a permanent exhibition in the Modern Art Museum in New York.
15th of March 1961 was a defining date in the motor world. It was on this significant date at the Geneva Auto Show that the Jaguar E-Type was launched. Jaguar Car Ltd produced this amazing British sports car. Jaguar Car Ltd noted that despite the accolades the Jaguar E-Type was enjoying, its sales were limited because was a two-seater. Consequently, they saw the need to push the envelope further and produce a jaguar that had a little more space. This is the reason they introduced the 2+2 in 1966. Malcolm Sayer, who is a revered engineer, designed the car. There was also design input from William Lryon. It is estimated that 70,000 Jaguar E-Type series were sold between 1961 and 1975.
The Jaguar E-Type series was a game changer. A glorious engine, two front seats, and a gorgeous body characterized this sports car. The mercury-sleek design of the Jaguar E-Type was made from aluminum instead of steel. The car’s slippery shape was initially designed to be more aerodynamic, but the unmatched features like the long hood and short rear deck became fashionable statements. This car redefined the typical perception of the sports car. The seats of the Jaguar E-type are attractive looking; they’re shaped like deep buckets. A 3.8litre XK engine powered it. However, in 1964, the 3.8litre engine was replaced by a new 4235cc version of the XK engine. This newly expanded engine helped increase the torque, consequently boosting the ‘drive-ability’ of the car.
Space and comfort
The Jaguar E-Type is pretty spacious. The front seats only accommodate two people. If you have luggage, you can comfortably place it in the trunk. The car also offers superb comfort. There is a convertible model that is really cool. When the weather’s hot, you can crank up the cool air conditioning and relax. The car is noted for its excellent A/C and heating functionality.
The Jaguar E-Type also comes with some innovative technology. Some of the technologies standard in the automotive spectrum can be traced back to the Jaguar E-type. This car features technologies such as fully-independent rear suspension, power-assisted disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and uni-body construction.
They Jaguar E-Type moves like greased lighting compared to other car, at least when it was first introduced in the racing arena. This nimbleness was made possible because of its shape and superb engine. The even weight distribution in it helps the car move smoothly.
The Jaguar E-Type will definitely give you value for your money. Nonetheless, it’s worth noting that some of the car’s spare parts will cost you an arm and a leg. They can be fairly expensive.
