Detroit 2017: Lexus presented sedan LS of fifth generation

The Lexus brand continues the tradition of selecting the Detroit auto show as a platform for the presentation of the flagship LS sedan. At the motor show car was shown the auto in a modification of LS 500, which obtained a new six-cylinder biturbo engine and 10-speed automatic transmission.

“Fifth” Lexus LS is built on the new global platform for RWD cars of the highest price segment – GA-L, which also gave life to the LC 500. The wheelbase of sedan is 3125 mm, that 35 mm more than the prolonged wheelbase of LS in previous iteration. Besides the flagship is a bit “stretched” and expanded, but got a swift silhouette thanks to reduced height. Thus, the overall length of new LS is equal to 5235 mm (+84 mm), width – 1900 mm (+25 mm), and height – 1450 mm (minus 16 mm). Additionally, the bonnet and the boot lid are now placed on 30 and 41 mm below, respectively.

Under the hood of the new LS 500 is a 3.5-liter biturbomotor V6 with power of 421 HP and torque of 600 Nm. The engine is combined with a 10-speed “automatic” by Aisin company. According to preliminary information (at the motor show is exhibited car model close to the original), the novelty can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Those who will buy new Lexus LS will be able to choose different combinations of leather and wood for interior decoration. The sedan got new design of seats with massage, ventilation and electrical adjustments in different directions. It’s available for driver to use multimedia system with 12.3-inch display, and optional projection of the testimony of the windshield. For second-row passengers is available foot-rest, and a passenger of right back seat even can adjust the backrest in the range of 24-28 degrees.

In the US Lexus dealers will begin getting orders for the new LS closer to the end of 2017, respectively in other markets, the novelty may occur even later. Prices will be available closer to sales start.
